So what? What's the big deal?

What did you expect him to say?

"Singapore's leadership is dishonest" Or "Usually honest" or "Generally honest" or "Strives to be honest" or "Is well on the way to being honest" or...a classic case of politico-speak:

"The Singapore Leadership has implemented action plans toward the objective of attaining honesty...

We are monitoring the situation closely. Honestly".

How is honest defined? Made a mistake and then admit that it was a 'honest mistake'? Or 'that was an unintended mistake' honestly committed? "Oh it is so unfortunate", not even an apology is offered.

I honestly must admit that I can hardly take their words at surface value.

we have bought honesty at a very high price. it will be terrible if it doesn't work.

If honesty needs to be 'bought', so be it...at least it's transparent.

It sure beats the system where politicians take kopi money and indirect earnings.

Also, I definitely don't believe that European nor US politicians are that altruistic. The perks that come after serving political office are usually HUGE...!

"Altruism" can never be possible, if we're talking about people who make their living out of the confiscated property of others' enterprise i.e. income taxes.

And those "perks" you refer to—they're paid by taxes too.

Can you name me one national leader in history who was "altruistic" in the strictest sense?

I can't.
