Vivian Balakrishnan making a political comeback?

‘Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan has joined in the hawker centres’ cleaning disputes.

He said it is “arrogant and wrong” of Ms Sylvia Lim to make a political attack on National Environment Agency (NEA) officers for simply doing their job….’

Vivian is calling Sylvia Lim arrogant and wrong for taking a shot at NEA in the hawker centre cleaning dispute. So who is arrogant and who is not arrogant, and who is right and who is wrong?

Vivian has been out of the limelight for a while after the Youth Festival and the acrimony he incurred for blowing the budget by an astronomical sum. Netizens were quite hostile to him and only stopped when he went out of sight and out of the news media. He was eclipsed politically.

Vivian’s latest attack at Sylvia Lim is unwise as the bad blood against him is still there. What is he hoping to do by this attack? To defend his NEA officers is one thing, to attack another politician by calling Sylvia arrogant is not going to be well received. If he is thinking of making a political comeback, to be in the lime light again, he will be surprised. He will hoard the limelight for sure, but for all the wrong reasons and he might regret making this latest statement.

Personally I think his political career is over, even if he is fielded in the next GE. His public image is far from the early days when he entered politics or before he entered politics. He is always remembered for his infamous reply to Lily Neo in Parliament. That is quite a chip to get rid off from his shoulder.

Well, Vivien still thinks he is debating in his school days whence he was quite brilliant amongst the student debaters. Politic is no debate; it is about competency and integrity, not winning by been eloquent and crafty. Using sophistry to win a political point could and will be fatal to his political career. So are those clowning around with little substance.

However, Dr Vivien need not care much for his political office; he could br earning much more as a medical professional. Cant say the same for some clowns, but those clown had made multi million Sin Dollars having been in the Cabinet for decades. And tjen again they will be given top corporate appointments if not in the Cabinet, they will be on Boards.

What have they to fear to say whatever they like?

Redbean

If a candidate runs under the PAP ticket, he will have a 93% chance of winning a seat, even if the opponent is a high calibre one like Tan Jee Say.

And after winning, it is not what bloggers think of him, but what the PM thinks of him, that decides his political career.

It was the case in 2011 and before. Why should it be any different in 2016?

And since 2011, has best opposition WP more ready than ever now to become govt?

Anonymous said...

That's why if I were Vivian Balakrishnan, I would have done the same. Maybe "whack" WP even stronger, fix them and don't give chance.

Who ask WP not ready to be govt? Then they deserved to be "whacked" lah.

Maybe they (WP) need to be whacked, so that LTK can comes out of his cocoon and take over the driver's seat.

After Hougang and Punggol East, the old formula is defunct. Now putting a PAP logo is highly likely to lose.

He will be remembered for all the wrong reasons
1.bartop dancing
2.where do they want to eat? hawker centers, foodcourts or restaurants"
3.miscalculating the YOG by 3 times
and its no small amount
4.capitalising on homophobic fear of some people by unnecessary attacks on a political opponent on this
5.continue harping on trivial issues like this NEA-WP food centre cleaning spat when there is a more serious one- the dengue epidemic on
His is a case study for how not be a politcian.

Some folks are damn good at bird talks(讲鸟话), always evading the topic, digress from the subject matter and do personal attack(作人身攻击)。
With glib tongue and sly mind, these folks become bird people( 鸟人) and talk like birds to get their own way.

People must learn to stop voting for such elites into power again. They just like to bully others who are marginalised and thus not fit to hold any public offices.

He screwed up the Dengue fever (now epidemic) under his watch, so he is desperate to atone himself by doing a good deed - make the Aljunied team repent for his master, hoping to score points.

Everybody can see it. He takes over PUB, the PUB CEO must go on first trouble. He takes over NEA, the NEA CEO must go on first trouble. All because of his failure and petty politiking. If you don't realize his method of attacks by now, you're daft.

Once upon a time -- school days -- a skilled debater. Now, resort to labelling and name-calling.

Give it up Vivian -- you're deteriorating ;-)

Ron Paul On Government Spying:
===============================

The government does not need to know more about what we are doing. We need to know more about what the government is doing.

We need to turn the cameras on the police and on the government, not the other way around. We should be thankful for writers like Glenn Greenwald, who broke last week’s story, for taking risks to let us know what the government is doing.

There are calls for the persecution of Greenwald and the other whistle-blowers and reporters. They should be defended, as their work defends our freedom.

redbean

That was before 2011. And he was also responsible for the cost overrun on the Youth Olympics. That was also before 2011.

But in GE 2011, he won against even a Presidential candidate called Tan Jee Say, you know and by 60% votes!

And after that he was appointed minister again.

So what political comeback is redbean talking about? Political comeback as defined by redbean, Tom, Dick, Harry or me? Of what use?

He screwed up in whatever ministry he is in. He should step down like M.Palmer. We can have another by election and WP sure win. In a truly meritocratic country, screwed-up like him will never be good enough for public office.

"Who ask WP not ready to be govt?" 3:49pm

- of cos not ready, they have not been voted into power by the people. the people have not yet passed them the mandate. WP Low is an ultra humble guy, you must learn to read between the lines.

The Bangkok Post

[Public can deal with the truth]

"Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has somewhat ironically revealed a major failing of govt, specifically her own.

Last Friday, the premier called an urgent cabinet meeting at Govt House.

The subject was the heavy criticism being heaped on her administration in recent days and weeks."

Vivien was quite brilliant then
and
Chen Show Mao was very
brilliant.

Now Matilah Singapura assesses
that Vivien is deteriorating and
Chen Show Mao is the Best in Sg.

Me concurs with MS assessment.

Vivien was a good debater but as
a politician, he was never impressive.
But, other than Lee Kuan Yew, there
was and is no capable politician in sg.

Chen Show Mao has yet to show us
his ability. What is he waiting for?
Senior citizens like me are tired of
waiting. In politics, time is precious.
There should be no procrastination
and wilful waste of time. Voters must not wait; time to vote for the NSP Candidates
come 2015/16.

Wait no more please.
