Bloggers Contest – World’s apart

The winner of the most popular blog contest organised by the citizens of the city state is none other than TREmeritus with millions of hits daily. Coming closely as first runner up is The Real Singapore. Second runner up goes to LittleSpeck. Actually these are just figments of my imagination.

The real winner of the Spore Blog Award went to Ivan Kwan whose blog, The Lazy Lizard’s Tales, whose article on the Pulau Ubin conservation went viral. Altogether 19 bloggers were honoured in the contest organised by the Singapore Press Holdings. Among the winners were bloggers on travel, lifestyle, parenthood, makan stalls and poetry.

Some of the winners would be blogging on finance and health matters soon. And one blogger commented, ‘It is also fantastic to see older bloggers – it shows that the trend is quite mainstream, no longer confined to the younger generation.’

Sorry uncles Seah Chiang Nee and Leong Sze Hian, not old enough, and not mainstream. And sorry, to be winners of the contest, you cannot blog about social political stuff. Mainstream bloggers don’t blog on such sticky stuff. I am going to set up a few new blogs on kite flying and fighting spiders. Maybe I will get a mention next year.

On the other hand it would be nice if TRE or some other lunatic blogging sites could organised a contest for the best blog or best bloggers on the lunatic fringe and we can reveal the fearful and frightening faces of these weird beings that exist in cyberspace. Otherwise no one will know of their existence or their blogs and the hot stuff they wrote. For sure they would not be writing about poetry and the beautiful garden city.

Singapore must get politics right!

Does anybody here seriously think the PAPigs are interested in a 2-way conversation?

Or is it a one way CONversation?
They talk.
We listen ... to the RIGHT things.

This is understandable as the contest is organised by Singapore Press Holdings.

As understandable as the strongest opposition in Sinkieland is also not ready to be govt.

So do you understand?

We pay million dollar salaries for this type of shit?

We pay million dollar salaries to the best available to be ministers.

And of course do not vote, let alone pay, those who say they are not even ready to be minister. Or has no ambition to be PM. Then what's the point (WP) being in politics and contesting elections?

Anonymous said...

I don't mind the PM and ministers being paid well, even millions of dollars.

Provided their party is very strong and can contest 100% of seats and win 93% seats at elections.

So far only PAP can meet this criteria, tio bo?

WP? Or what not party(WNP)?
Tan ku ku lah. As ku as your HDB flat become zero value after 99 years lah. Hahahaha.

Hi guys, be aware that there is a smear campaign being waged against the WP here and in other blogs and websites. They are repeating it daily an idea that the WP is unworthy.

When you read such posts, be very clear their intention and where it is coming from.

"And of course do not vote, let alone pay, those who say they are not even ready to be minister."

Anon,

You did not "read the right things" liao.

Who say don't even think of paying them?

The voters already catapulted all these "not ready" co-drivers into the top 20% annual income bracket earners liao.

A "right report done in 2011" says Singaporean households earning $13,000 and above falls into the 80th percentile bracket or the top 20% households .......

How much "not ready" and "cbl" co-drivers earn every month huh ......?

Oops my maths sucks lah so pls don't get heart attack when you see the below figure huh ..... bcos may not be the "rt things" "not ready" co-drivers also don't want you to read or know lor .......

Since 2011 till now, each co-driver estimate already should be about $500,000/= or half million richer liao in their pocket, not including their full time job income yet for those also holding full time positions beside part-time "co-drivers"

Not bad hor, part time "co-drivers" also can become top 20% income households earners in the top 4 richest countries in the world per capita gdp ......

Oops "wrong things to read lah " .......

where is my hammer .....? where is my hammer ..... ?

Oops handle broken liao ..... Siao, hammer also not ready cannot use .....

no need start work liao ..... but nvr mind lor ......

meter still running ......

An idea only? Is it a fact that WP is unworthy on areas where it really matter, you say lah?

Actually the root problem is that Sinkies in general are unworthy as they cannot form a stronger and better opposition party ready to be govt.

So Sinkies have to face the fact that they deserve the type of govt and the type of opposition lah.

Anonymous said...

But how to form another party as strong as the PAP?

Strong meaning can contest 100% of seats as one party under one leader in the next election lah.

Any party (not PAP) that can do that will get my vote for sure. Maybe not just my vote but also 60% of the voters.

Therein lies the solution to the problem with the PAP govt.

Not only you must read the right things, you must write the right things in order to be in SPH winner's list.

Yahoo! Sg

[Internet big boys take aim at Singapore's 'regressive' new rules]

"Singapore's move to tighten regulation of news web sites, already under fire from bloggers and human rights groups, has attracted criticism from an unexpected quarter -
large internet firms with a big presence in the city-state who say the new rules will hurt the industry.

The comments, made in a letter to Singapore's minister of communications and information by the Asia Internet Coalition, an industry body,
are the first sign that Singapore's success in wooing major players to its shores is not assured.

Google, eBay, Facebook and Yahoo all have a major presence in the city-state."
