Air Asia QZ8501 - A sad piece of news to close the year

Air Asia flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore disappeared early this morning, 6.17am. It was due to arrive at Changi at 8.30am. No news has been heard from the aircraft after it got clearance from Indonesia Air Traffic Control to climb higher to avoid weather.

A full Search and Rescue mission has been going on since this morning from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. 155 passengers and 7 crew were on board, mostly Indonesians, with 1 Singaporean, a Briton, a family of 3 Koreans and a Malaysian.

Our hearts are with the families and friends of those missing.

WOW! Commercial aviation in Malaysia is not doing so well...oh well, I suppose we can all enjoy cheap deals again!

There's always a silver lining ;-)

@ agongkia:

Please lah, some gallows humour is always beneficial in a hopeless situation. Your doctor--a person you respect and trust your life to--does it all the time. Yessir, you can REST ASSURED that when you go in to receive the "bad news", the doc will be making a huge fucking joke about it.

That doesn't mean the doc is "cruel" or "uncompassionate". Nothing that the doc says in the "tumour" situation, or myself in this Air Asia situation is going to affect what already has happened, or the eventual outcome.

BTW, there are no "miracles". Real, matured, fully-functioning adults are able to accept the "shit of life" without resorting to hoping that some invisible sky-fairy will intervene with his "magical powers" to bring a "and-they-lived-happily-ever-after" ending to life's tragedies which occur to some unlucky folks every bloody day.

When people "pray" they essentially talk to themselves to make themselves feel good. Prayer doesn't and cannot already change the fact that these folks are probably fish food by now. Nothing Fails Like Prayer!

Got reality check?

Yes, Abbot should know the location of the missing jet.

But, hor, he is waiting for the battery in the black box to run out before he will tell. Then everyone can start chasing the wild goose cooked up by him that never was in existence. This poodle is a joke!
