A Petition and an Open Statement from the Workers Party

The police investigation on Cooling Day postings by Teo Soh Lung and Roy Ngerng has reached a new high that there is a Petition signed by 150 political activists from all colours appealing to the police to cease the investigation. You can read the petition in TRE and TOC.

And the unusually non partisan and quiet WP has even issued an Open Statement,

‘The Workers’ Party is concerned about the manner in which the current investigations into alleged violations of “Cooling Off Day” regulations are reportedly being conducted.

We understand from the public record that other individuals or entities who were reported for similar violations in the past were not known to have faced the same lengthy interviews, and searches and seizures of personal equipment.

We urge the authorities to ensure that consistency and proportionality are applied to all investigations, as these are key to maintaining confidence in Singapore’s law enforcement organisations and legal system.’

The Petition and Open Statement may all come to nothing given the state of affairs in this island. At best it would be to register their disapproval and put it on record. Nothing will come from these actions. The investigation will go on.

What would be interesting and meaningful would be for the 150 signatories to the Petition to do something concrete and meaningful. One thing they could do is to approach the WP or the SDP to join the parties to run in the next GE. These 150 activists are mostly professionals in their own rights and would be a force to be reckoned with, to add to the strength of whichever party that is willing to take them in en bloc.  Put aside all the personal differences for the bigger objective.  See the bigger picture and think big. This is the kind of things that would be meaningful and impactful if that is what they want to do. Otherwise words don’t kill and would not come to anything.

And if the WP and SDP did not want to welcome them, the 150 activists could launch a new political party and invite all with the same thinking in the opposition party camp, WP and SDP included, and all the professionals on the sidelines to join this new party without any historical baggages but with a clear objective, to be the political party to stage a real challenge to the ruling party. This is the way to go forward.  Start preparing for the next GE now. There is no time to waste if they want real change for the good of country and people. Just do it.

Put the Petition and Open Statement aside and do something that would lead to greater change to our political landscape and the good of the people and country.

Hahahahahaha. My educated guess suggest that it is precisely because PAP think this will not happen, that's why PAP dare to take the kind of action against Roy and Teo. And there is also more to it than meets the eye for such actions of PAP.

PAP know Sinkies very well, whether they are activists or not, and also how Sinkies will vote, and what type of strength the opposition is or can be.

And that would be really sad. And ironic. Ironic because just this Monday, DPM Tharman said that there is now more freedom of speech today compared to a decade ago. He said:

“We have evolved into a society that has more freedoms, but it has some restrictions and they serve a purpose.”

It seems that our evolution is proceeding at a glacial pace. And sometimes seem to be a Sisyphean evolution. Or perhaps he meant to say that there is freedom, up until you dare to threaten PAP’s stranglehold on power?

But WP Teochew Hia and SDP Aung Juan Soon Chee are not even on speaking terms with each other,

so how does this give confidence to the 150 activists to join,

and to add to the strength of whichever party?

"Cooling Off Day"
-----------------
Think a bit
- what purpose does it serve anyway?

Are Singaporeans so much like animals that we need a day to cool off?
- it's just another useless law in a never ending list of laws telling us what we can and cannot do

Think
- will this law create any new jobs for Singaporeans?
- will this law make Singapore more competitive?
- will this law prevent MRT from breaking down again and again?

How about a law that says the CEO of SMRT must have 10 years of working experience managing a train company instead?

You are talking about a breed that's has been raised in black and white. These people loves to find fault because they want "harmony with virgins in the sky"

Especially old people. Old people loves to talk about what is right and what is wrong. When they see crimes story on front pages of newspapers, their eyes light up - especially vice stories. hahahaha

Your founder was well versed in legal assassination.

Hi Anon 10.26

Cooling day is only advantageous to the PAP.

They can still splashed their votes catching to the public thru the MMS organs like the Shit Times, CNA, Channel 8 Pioneers oldies.

Others,Ssshhhhh, not a word or the Gestapo, Kempeitei will chop off your heads or gas chamber for 48 hours.

Also, the Finale Rally Call by the Opp might stir some fires in the crowds and may sway their votes.

So, 24.hours for you to change your mind.

Also PAP even MPs can said loops sorry, not I posted one!

My friend lah. The Sin Secrete Polis will said ok, no worries Masters. Pang SIM, pang SIM.

The rest, hahaha Hell befall on you. Time for my performance promotions.

I did not know who are the 150 petitioners. The number is sizable. According to articles, the uniform groups said the offense is criminal. WP s statement is a clear indication that the party is taking the lead in opinion, while the rest are quiet in view of the nature "criminal". It is important for WP to put on record how they think of certain social event. That will allow voters to go back to them when WP is in power.

On the 150 petitioners. RB s encouragement is timely. The so called nation is torn apart. Foreigners and locals including PR are voicing opinions in politics while many citizens are simply keeping a far distance away.

If the petitioners are citizens, they have put forward their steps. Join the WP early so that they can expand to the West.

During the secretary contest, there was opinions on article if WP should expand. My opinion is more liberal than the old self censored thinking. The old way on WP is always expanding in the East with a few candidates more. That is justifiable when WP has no candidates. From the CEC election, there were 20+ old enough members contesting 12 seats. It means there are more than 20+ suitable professionals at least.
WP must expand to the West to increase its chance to increase seats when the old batch of self restricted members retire.
The so called nation is in bad shape. Economy is bad and still sinking. The ruling party chief s promise was "world first class division one". First class in world? on Economy? First class in the world on citizens employment (dont count foreigner and PR)? First class on innovation in manufacturing or services? Casinos also down, retailers also down, what class is this nation belong to? First to be identified as high debt nation. This one is the true by figure. Debts high mean costs are very high and incomes for citizens cannot catch up to pay the cost. This is the result of ruling party for 20 years.
Voters will be gradually looking for change. So its is the right time to go back to basic. Charge less in civil service, tax less, and chase out the crowd so that more efficient use of cars can less to enable companies to trade more.
Do away with the crowd. It means voters must change the political party that draw the crowd from 3rd world to cost citizens more. Foreigners enjoy, citizens pay policy: must stop. To achieve that, opposition must grow.

In the old days, petitions might have had some effect.

Nowadays with so many "petition" sites online, a petition is not worth the non-existent paper its printed on.

Petition is a waste of time, and only a means of SJW (Social Justice Warriors) to bullshit themselves into believing they're actually achieving something.

The more they show up with this kind of lame-assed response, the more their public reputation sinks into the shitter as a bunch of no-action all-talk chatterboxes.

If you want change, you need to move real things (physical things) in the real world (physical world). Ideas are fine, but unless "something moves", nothing will change.

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

The cops OTOH are performing with real action (physical) in the real physical world. They are making things move---like moving people into the courts and possibly into detention. They are moving physical items belonging to the people charged into police evidence lockers.

This is what I'm talking about. ACTION.

Dengan semangat yang baru, motherfuckers.

Pullies looking for dirt. Wondering whether their hands are clean before they searched? Technically they maybe clean but assholes may not? What do you think?

Move also must follow laws. Laws say they can't move so study dead books people must check with dead book professors of laws to confirm laws and if confirmed, study dead books people will comply with laws.

Must follow laws mah...your mothers say so one mah

Smart Sinkies make money, not petition PAP or join opposition to fight PAP.

Besides joining PAP, making money is another way to be a winner in Sinkieland.

So you want to be a winner or not?

Anonymous said...

So you are a winner? How many dollars are you earning? Tell us then we judge if you are a winner or a loser.

Anonymous said...

He or She is already a winner in Sin by spending time making money, whatever the amount.
Actually Redbean is the leader to spearhead the idea and suggestion he made here.

This is an insult on all voters. Without
Cooling Day, voters go berserk and frenzy?
