Would Singaporeans love this dictator?

This is what he gave to his people.
1. There is no electricity bill in his country; electricity is free for all its citizens.
2. There is no interest on loans, banks in the country are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.
3. Home considered a human right in his country – he vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in the country had a home. His father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent.
4. All newlyweds in the country receive $60,000 Dinar (US$50,000) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family.
5. Education and medical treatments are free in his country. Before his rule only 25% of the citizens are literate. Today the figure is 83%.
6. Should his citizens want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick-start their farms – all for free.
7. If his citizens cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in the country, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US$2,300/mth accommodation and car allowance.
8. In his country, if a citizen buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price.
9. The price of petrol in his country is $0.14 per liter.
10. His country has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally.
11. If a citizen is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.
12. A portion of the country’s oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all the citizens.
13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US$5,000
14. 40 loaves of bread in his country costs $ 0.15
15. 25% of the citizens have a university degree
16. He carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.
The treacherous Americans said this man was evil and had him murdered by invading his country and dethroned him, or was it the Europeans and the Americans. This man was a dictator and would be ruthless, like all dictators are to their political enemies. Dictators are dictators and often bullied their citizens. But was this dictator a better dictator to his ordinary people? Would the apolitical kiasu, kiasi, kia chenghu Singaporeans love to have a dictator like this man?
You can guess his name. The Evil Empire has terminated him and his country is in a mess.

The CPF scam, controversy or mirage

Can one call the CPF a scam, or is there a better word to describe this scheme if it is not a scam? Can someone find a more suitable word instead of calling it a scam? It is definitely a big controversy over what it is and what it is not. It is in many ways like a mirage, like real but not real, like your money but not your money.

When we started joining the CPF scheme, I belong to the pioneer generation, things were very simple. Put aside some money as a saving for retirement. At 55 one will get every cent in the CPF account and nothing more to do with the CPF.

I just signed onto my account in the CPF and to my horror, I still owe the CPF several hundred thousand dollars, from housing loan, interest on housing loan and funds taken out for investments. Hey, I have passed the withdrawal age many aeons ago and should be getting every cent out from my CPF savings. I do not want to have anything to do with the CPF. Why am I owing money to the CPF or owing money to myself? What kind of trickery is this?

And why should I be owing money due to interest on my housing loans, fully paid, when it is my money? Should not my account be clean u, closed, leaving at most only the ransom that the govt has passed as law to hold on to my money, refusing to return to me fearing that I may squander them in Batam? What ransom? Oops, sorry, I mean the minimum sums that I cannot touch, and now not even sure if they are my money. Some people said money cannot use or not use is not your money.

Singaporeans are so daft that they did not know the money they saved in the CPF is their money, or is it the govt’s money? When an NMP said it is not the people’s money, nearly the whole Parliament nodded in agreement without anyone standing up to say she was wrong, that it is not the govt’s money but belong to the people that contributed as their life savings. Is this an implicit agreement that what the NMP said was true? Is this morally right to turn the people’s sayings into something else? And the daft kwai kwai let the govt decide what the govt wants to do with the money. They have no say to their own savings! And another compulsory scheme is on the way, to use the people’s life savings as if it belongs to the monkey proposing it.

My dream is for a new party to come into power and remove all these unjust and unfair laws to keep the people from accessing their money saved over a life time. This thing must be stopped one day and the money be returned to the rightful owners. No amount of ‘conmunication’ can change the fact that the money belongs to the people that contributed them. Monkeys, please keep your fingers off the people’s money.

This is uniquely Singapore. Communication should be spelt ‘conmunication’.
And the best part, at my age when I could be called to meet the maker any moment, I still have to contribute to my CPF in Medisave. What shit is this? Is this a kind of robbery from the oldies? No, no, it is compulsory, the law said so. It is legal. Not sure if I got the spelling right for the word legal. Then what is robbery? Robbery is the law did not say so.

US should stop its mischiefs in the South China Sea.

I refer to Today's paper report on page one " South China Sea isles 'ready for military use", information disseminated by an American Think Thank, " The Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative ( AMTI ) part of Washington's centre for Strategic and International studies. "

This is yet another of the continuous intermittent American mischiefs of stirring shit in the South China Sea to suit its agenda of aggression and containment against China and its ultimate aim and ambition of controlling and holding hegemony over the East China Sea and the South China Sea.

The Paracel and Spratly islands are inherent Chinese territories. China is exercising her sovereign rights in building up defensive installations in her own territories to deter American and Japanese aggression. It should be of no concern to the Americans which instead should be ashamed of its huge sprawling illegal military bases in Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and other military bases in Guam, Marshall Islands , Japan, South Korea and the Philippines.

It must be noted in the mid 1970s US had instigated Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia to steal many of the Chinese islands at the time when China was militarily weak especially in naval defense vis-avis the Americans. Nevertheless there was a certain modicum of peace and tranquility in the South China Sea. It was only in 2010 when Obama and Hillary Clinton in their insanity and evil intent of pivoting to Asia to contain China that they created distrust and dissension among the countries bordering the South China Sea thus causing trouble and instability to eventually benefit US hegemony.

US should stop its mischiefs in the South China Sea and instead let the world have peace and security by dismantling all its military bases around the four corners of the earth.

US should stop complaining and accusing others falsely while as the Chinese have a saying " One is not aware of the shit in one's face but only the smell in others "  US fits exactly under that description.

A mausoleum for Kim Jong Nam

Malaysia may be building a mausoleum to house the body of Kim Jong Nam forever. The families of the said victim are not coming forward to claim it. North Korea wanted it but Malaysia did not want to give it to them. According to Malaysian Health Minister Subramaniam, ‘There have been a lot of rumours that the body was cremated, but we would not do this without the responsible parties  giving us directives or agreements.’ This would lead to an impasse and Malaysia would end up with the body of Kim out of a matter of choice and kindness. Malaysia could easily return the body to North Korea, but for some reason or reasons, chose not to do so and would only want to return the body to the victim’s family that did not want to come forward.

Ok, so Malaysia, what are you going to do with the body now? Keep it in the morgue forever or turn it into something useful, like a tourist attraction to collect fees for its upkeep? A mausoleum would be practical and useful if Malaysia has the intention to turn this non profit act of kindness, a money losing situation, into a positive money making machine.

Come visit Malaysia to see this rare human specie, found only in North Korea but not in other parts of the world, a North Korean? And this is probably the only specimen that was poisoned by one of the deadliest nerve gases known to humankind.  It is a unique opportunity not to be missed. World scientists may also get the privilege of examining and studying the body and the effects of the deadly nerve agent known as VX. Visitors entering the mausoleum would have to pay for a protective clothing for their safety of course, some kind of sophisticated plastic overall. This would really be a piece of item that is attractive to the tourists visiting Malaysia and for keepsake.

I am giving the Malaysian Tourism Ministry good suggestions for free.

Terrex saga – Is Singapore off the hook?

The attention has shifted towards the ship’s captain and APL that carried the Terrex APVs. Both are being charged for not filing proper documents for the Terrexes. The case seems so clean and so be like that from the very start. It was the duty of the ship’s captain and the APL to file the proper documents. Singapore was just an innocent customer paying for the shipping of its APVs.

At the moment it would seem quite clear that the ship’s captain and APL would have to face the music and the consequences, fines or maybe jailed. It is normal to expect that Singapore would do the necessary, provide all the information to ship the APVs to the shipper/APL as there was nothing unusual, nothing illegal and nothing to hide. And Mindef or whoever tasked to handle this consignment must be expected to do the proper, the due diligence. And the ship’s captain and APL are as good as cooked for not doing so unless the captain has something else to say.

Would there be any surprises like Singapore did not provide the necessary documents and falsely declared the Terrexes as something else? If this is the case, which is highly unlikely, the whole case would fall onto Singapore’s lap once again. In all probabilities, the case is as good as closed from the Singapore angle and everyone can have a good sleep. It is now between Hong Kong and APL and the ship’s captain.

There should not be any nasty surprises or unexplainable events to make Singapore jittery and all ‘emo’ again. Case closed. Keep your fingers crossed.

When we have water sufficiency

The outrageous and unthinkable happened with the announcement of the 30% price hike of water. And the most nonsensical and condescending reason for the hike, is to teach the people the value of water and to make the people feel the price of water. What hogwash! This is not new. Yeo Cheow Tong did it in his time to raise the price of water for the same reason when we were paying 3c for water from across the Causeway. And a large part of our water supply is still coming from Malaysia and at an unbelieveable price today but they are going to make you pay, for their illusion or delusion, to appreciate the value of water.

The govt has its own computation for this ridiculous and callous demand for a 30% hike quoting sensitive issues that could not be disclosed. Would the govt at least come out with some of the major factors and assumptions, without the details, that led to this price hike? At least the people would know what are the devils and whether the devils are unnecessary, facetious and could be removed from the computation.

We were not really self sufficient in water in the past. We depended too much on water from Malaysia until Mahathir knocked us out from our comfort zone. We went on a rapid water production programme and declared that we were self sufficient in water. It was a great effort and duly recognised. We moved from 3 tiny reservoirs to 17 huge reservoirs today while our population went from 2m to 5.5m and crazily ramping up to 6.9m while some IMH cases asking for 15m.

The big question, were we self sufficient in water at 5m population and if so, why must we move on to a treacherous path of water insufficiency in the future? What are the factors that contributed to this dangerous situation? Can this be avoided? Many have been guessing that the key factor towards painting ourselves into a corner is the mad craving for 6.9m population or more for economic growth as if economic growth is everything and the only way to achieve it is through population growth. If that is the reason many developed countries would have taken that path but they are not.

And this belief, this thinking, is not far from the truth. If this insane craving for a bigger population is removed from the equation, would there be a need to build all the expensive desalination plants and put the country in a state of crisis in the future? And water would not be the only strategic resource that would be stretched to the maximum with a bigger population. Everything, every essential service and resource would be strained. The most critical, and some that we don't even have, is energy source. We are 100% dependent on external energy sources and this is a very precarious position to be in, not counting on the supply of food to feed 6.9m people or more.

Now you can understand why there are still mad men talking about nuclear power plants in this piece of rock. They think they are very clever, to mount nuclear power station on floating platform, to be towed away for safety, to where? Would the littoral states allow Singapore to do that in the South China Sea or Indian Ocean? Would our neighbours be comfortable and forgiving for a 'nuclear bomb' that we insist on having that would jeopardise their well being?

Our thinking has been self centric, only thinking of self, our national interest and not of the concerns of our neighbours. Would we accept it if Malaysia and Indonesia would to locate their nuclear power stations in Johore and Batam respectively? By the way, this talk of national interest is also questionable. Is it really for the interest and good of the people or for who? Who would be benefitting from this population craze that would lead to a slippery and treacherous road of no return? Many people do not think it would benefit them and there are other safer and more manageable ways for economic growth without tying a knot on our throat. The knot would only be tighter by the days and would hang us high and dry in the future.

Is this multi milllion dollar thinking or crap thinking? We are familiar with the simple analogy of force feeding ducks or geese and the consequences. We are also familiar with drug taking and how it would self destruct and must self destruct up to a point. There is no miraculous escape for the Peking ducks or the geese that produced the foie gras or the drug addicts. The end result is certain death.

Are we so stupid and desperate to take the unrestrained high population path that would put an unacceptable strain on everything? The first victim to this foolishness is water pricing and the farcical logic being uttered that made the 'utterers' looking stupid even to a child. Please spare these fools from making themselves looking more ridiculous by what they have to say to justify an untenable premise.

Is Singaporean taboo?

The word Singaporean appears to be disappearing from being mentioned in the media or on the lips of our politicians, at least when reporting employment statistics is concerned. It is all but being replaced by words like locals and residents. It is as if the word Singaporean is now
taboo, cannot be spoken, cannot be mentioned.

Even Singaporeans are becoming lesser, becoming a minority in Singapore. Is there anything wrong with being Singaporeans, with calling Singapore Singapore or would be be more appropriate to affectionately call it Syonan To? Syonan To was good time to some Singaporeans while many were massacred by the barbaric Japanese invading soldiers.

All of a sudden no one wants to be Singaporeans or no one wants to mention this word Singaporean as if it is a disease. Are there still Singaporeans in Singapore or the remaining Singaporeans have resigned to the fate that they would be replaced by the foreigners? Are Singaporeans a soon to be extinct specie in Singapore?

Why is it that the media kept using terms like locals and residents and not
Singaporeans? Ashamed to use this word anymore? Or is there an agenda, to rid the term Singaporeans from Singapore like they got rid of local dialects in the past?

If there is no Singaporean to talk about, would they still be calling this
country a nation, would Singapore become a none state? Would Singapore just be a city for anyone that comes here, to be called a local or resident?

To the disappearing Singaporeans, what do you think? You still have a
country to call your own? Would there be a day when we will be telling our
grand children in the future that there was once an island we called home
but no more. It is now called Syonan To or something else depending on the new owners of the island? We gave it away without a fight. No, we invited foreigners to take it from us on a silver platter.

What a tragedy when that day comes.

Surge Pricing is the way to go

For the millionaires and those who can afford to pay and pay, surge pricing in a good formula and good policy to provide services and goods according to supply and demand. It is another core principle of free capitalist economy and laissez faire. Provide service and goods to those who can pay, forget about those who cannot pay. The rich will be very happy but the poor, what poor, they don’t deserve to have the services and the goods.

There is no free lunch, come and get it if you can afford it. That was why
many of the landlords and rich were executed when Capitalism reached its perfection and Communism came in to level the playing field when the
majority of the poor rebelled. Revolutions are made of such stuff, the
struggle between perfect Capitalism and the need to distribute wealth more equally, not equally, to the less deserving.

The parents are complaining that the price of milk powder has surged more than 120% over the last decade or so. A 900g tin of milk powder now costs $56 from $25.40. This must be surge pricing demand at work thought the manufacturers claimed costs are going up due to R & D. The parents are not amused. Maybe they should stop producing babies, then the demand for milk powder will fall and no surge in price.

When the prices of basic goods and services are determined by demand without intervention by the govt, it is very good for the rich and the producers of these goods and services. The other end of the stick is a different story. Should this be the principle for pricing of goods and services for all things?

Public transport prices, food prices, education, ERPs, medical, use of water and electricity, etc etc? Should the govt go this way, to encourage surge pricing and apply surge pricing for more goods and essential services?

The Sultan of Johore has just done the opposite by selling low cost housing to the losers that cannot afford to pay. This is against the principle of Capitalism and surge pricing. Why supply housing at low prices when he could make a pile by restricting supply and sell to the highest buyers? But he is going to stand out as a leader of the people, a champion of the masses, He is now putting many political leaders to shame. Once in a long while a benevolent leader will appear on the scene. This sultan is looking like the one the Malaysians are looking for.

How many monkeys are out there clapping and saying surge pricing is the
right thing and right policy to be adopted by the govt?

52% support budget, 32% support water hike

According to Reach, 52% of the people support the budget but only 32% support the 30% water hike. Put it in another way, 43% was against the water hike, 24% neutral, 32% for and 1% dunno.  How to put these numbers in a simpler form when there is a 24% in the neutral category? This is like a 35% Elected President, which did not look or sound good. Saying 43% against can also mean less than 50% against or can give the impression 57% was for it if the details were not given. On the other hand, saying 32% support could give the impression 68% was against. Luckily the numbers for neutral and dunno were also given to prevent the confusion.
Talking about confusion, when it was reported that 52% supported the budget, does it mean that 48% were against the budget? Was the survey conducted using only for or against, with no neutral or dunno? If that was the case, then it is understandable. If neutral and dunno were included, then the 52% for could mean a few things. One, no respondent ticks the neutral or dunno option. So it is a clear case of 52% support. Or it could be like 24% neutral and 1% dunno, leaving only 22% against the budget.
If this was the case, then there is no need to fear that support has fallen from 70% or 80% to 52% since only 22% was against. Wondering how they could get a 70% or 80% number in the past. Apparently from the reports in the media, it is likely a case of for or against type of survey, no buts and ifs, and 52% was for and 48% was against the budget.
It is not easy to use statistics to tell a clear story, like half full or half empty sometimes. Statistics are meant to make things easy and clearer to understand but turning out to be a tool for magicians to amaze or to wow the audience.

Surge pricing, hear only the good stuff

‘Cheaper rides and shorter waiting time. This is the promise of ride hailing platform Grab, which announced its dynamic pricing model for taxi fares yesterday.’  Today paper.

Too good to believe but it is true, up to a point. This is what they called dynamic pricing and will adjust according to demand. LTA is also sold on the concept and has approved the formula. And other taxi companies are also jumping into this bandwagon. Who does not want to drive and charge according to demand? How does this square up to cheaper rides and shorter waiting time? Can demand and supply of taxis be fixed by the drivers? This is a big question.

But enjoy the cheap ride with shorter waiting time if this can be real. It means drivers are more efficient and willing to collect lesser far and to provide faster service. That is the promise. What is not promise is surge pricing, not sure about shorter waiting time, but very sure the price would surge. This reminded me of the time when telco companies could charge cheap packages but load on unlimited charges should the usage surge pass the limit of the package with some victims, especially the children and the ah mahs being charged hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Luckily this scourge was clamped down and a more decent formula to charge for usage exceeding a package was introduced.  How could such practices be allowed, only god knows, but not before many fell victims and were a few hundred or thousand dollars poorer.

Another lucky thing about such unacceptable practice creeping into this surge thing is that there is now a cap of $60 for a trip. Not sure how this works, but I believe at most the damage would be $60 before the passenger is booted out. Would this happen, could this happen when the driver saw the meter hitting above $60 and knowing that he could not bill the passenger the additional charges?
The devil is when it is out in practice and how drivers circumvent this to their advantage. This is another good thing happening in the taxi business, not sure who is going to benefit from this scheme, the drivers or the passengers. Would the same scenario be repeated, off peak hours, all the taxis went hiding and reappear during surge period?

Oh, the $60 taxi fare is going to be a new normal. Still very cheap relative to the European and first world cities. So much be something very affordable to the rich Singaporeans.

Water pricing no need rocket scientist

A person needs just so much water to clean himself and so much water to drink daily. Many are already using the minimum to keep themselves clean and not smelly, and drink just enough to be alive. Should these people be forced to cut down using the little amount of water they are using now with this 30% tax hike to remind them that water is a strategic asset, a national security asset? Which clowns are making such unreasonable demands on the poor people trying to be alive? It is nonsense, it is cruel, wicked and insane to make such demands on the people already living with the bare minimum to be slammed with a 30% price increase.

You don’t need a rocket scientist to explain to the clowns that people need a minimum amount of water to live and to clean themselves for basic hygiene needs. But the clowns are so thick that they could not understand this. And now a foreign talent could not tahan their stupidity, and the media in agreement, had to publish his thoughts to remind the clowns that this foreign talent could not take it anymore. And the reasons given are simple common sense that any daft sinkie would also know.

Dr Jochen Krauss said this as reported in the Today paper, ‘A fair system needs to differentiate users.’ Can understand this or not? He added, ‘But it is the Government’s responsibility to ensure the lower income can afford and have access to water….At some point, households will not be able to reduce their water consumption any further.’ Why thoughtlessly hike the price of water across the board to hit the lower income households who are struggling to pay the water bill with another 30% increase? Is this a responsible thing to do for a govt that claimed to be caring, compassionate and ‘thinking’ because it is all so talented? Where is the thinking, where is the compassion, where is the caring? I can’t find them, can you?

This Dr Jochen must be so exasperated to find the nonsensical logic being shafted down the people’s throat thinking that the people cannot see the silliness of the reasoning and had to say it out. Be sensible and responsible, and stop hitting the poor and lower income households with a sledgehammer. Super talent? Caring? All inclusive, no one being left out? Oops, yes all inclusive, no one being left out from this 30% hike, all must kena taxed and made to know the price of water even when they are using the bare minimum.

Should not there be a reward for people who are already using the bare minimum, who already knew the value of water, and are saving this precious water, not wasting them? The thinking of this policy is that these people also must be made to feel the price of expensive water regardless of whether they know or did not know. This is the same kind of silly totalitarian thinking like when one person went to Batam to spend his money then all the CPF members must be punished.

The truth is that they are just finding excuses to keep the people from their CPF money. And in this water hike case they just want to tax more, to collect more money. They cannot be so stupid not to know how nonsensical and unreasonable is the logic and the policy. They are punishing the very responsible people who have been cutting down on wastage of water over the years.

Stupidity has no cure.

The mad, irresponsible and dangerous Americans planning war with North Korea

This unthinkable scenario is going to happen if the world does not stop this madness in Washington, to ever think of war in Asia, to attack a country that did not do anything against anyone except to develop its own defence capability to prevent an attack by the Americans that were conducting war games almost daily at its door. It is the right of every nation state to develop and arm itself against an attack by another country. It is criminal to conduct war against another country under the pretext of protecting and defending itself. No one is going to attack the USA. No one is mad enough to think that he could get away from such a hostile act. The North Koreans are not mad. It is the Americans in the White that are mad. They want war, wars and more wars just because they have superiority in weapons to attack anyone at will.

What kind of stupidity is existing in the White House when the North Koreans are not easy meat like the Arab countries. Once a hostile act is committed by the Americans, the North Koreans would have nothing to restrain them from launching everything they got into South Korea and Japan. Millions would be annihilated overnight in North East Asia. The region would be contaminated with nuclear radioactive particles that would spread to China, Russia and eventually to the USA as well.

The world must stop the mad men in Washington from their irresponsible intent to start another war. The Americans have been agitating wars, provoking wars, starting wars everywhere, the worst in the Middle East, and the whole world allowed it to happen with impunity. This time this war against North Korea is not child’s play. It is not a one way war whereby the Americans are doing the attack and the North Koreans being sitting duck. They would retaliate with their nuclear weapons and North East Asia would be finished. The Americans did not care a hoot about whether they would still be a South Korea or a Japan left should it attack North Korea.

Russia and China must made it known categorically that they would not allow it to happen and it would be the start of WW3. Russia and China cannot allow the Americans to attack one of their allies and not doing anything. An attack on North Korea would be an attack on Russia and China. If they did not act, they would be next to be wiped out by the mad and war mongering Americans. They would have no more allies as no country would think they would be safe from an attack by the Americans for being friends or allies of Russia and China.

On the other hand would the Japanese and South Koreans allow this American madness to risk being attacked by nuclear weapons from North Korea when the Americans strike first?

Where is the UN, the countries of the world, to stand up to this primitive country that only believes in wars, killings and the destruction of other countries? A war against North Korea would be the end of this world. Americas would not be safe in a nuclear fallout from East Asia. Russia and China must put their foot down and tell the Americans in clear and unmistakable language, in no uncertain terms, that any attack on North Korea would be an attack on Russia and China and it would be war with the Americans. Failing to do so would be the beginning of their own demise in international politics.

Only the mad, dangerous and irresponsible Americans are toying with the idea of war everyday thinking they could get away with murders. The Americans are the only mad people that still think war is an option to keep the Evil Empire going. The North Koreans are not weak and defenceless Arab nations. And they have Russia and China to fight on their side. Don’t kid yourself that the Russians and Chinese are so stupid to sacrifice their ally for the sake of American hegemony and world dominance.

The people of the world and the Americans must act now to stop this madness in Washington and the White House unless they don’t mind being war collaterals with nuclear radio active particles falling over their heads. There is no where to run, no where to hide if WW3 explodes.

Singaporeans, PRs, locals, residents?

Read a front page article in thenewpaper talking about Jobless graduates
and the numbers of locals unemployed, residents unemployed but not a word
mentions about Singaporeans or PRs. What is a local, what is a resident? A
Singaporean, a non Singaporean, a PR or a foreigner that happened to work
here? Who cares?

Who cares about locals or residents? What a true blue Singaporean would be
concerned about would be the well being of Singaporeans, whether they are
happily employed or unhappily unemployed, under employed or retrenched.
This is what being Singaporean is all about. And isn’t this is what the
govt or people in govt should be concerned about?

Why are they mumbling about locals and residents? Are these some secret
codes that are used to confuse matters, to hide facts that are important to
Singaporeans? With all the numbers mentioned in the report, does any
Singaporean know how many Singaporeans are unemployed versus non
Singaporeans? Is this not the issue?

What is happening? What is the agenda? Does anyone want to know how many
Singaporeans are unemployed or retrenched? Locals, residents, what the
hell? These are meaningless terms unless we know what they are and what
portion or percentage is Singaporeans. Not talking about Singaporeans, not
wanting to say anything about Singaporeans is as good as not wanting to let
Singaporeans know, something to hide, something unpleasant to hide.

The fate of daft Sinkies is sealed but no one wants to talk about it. Not
saying it, not revealing it does not mean it will go away. Singaporeans
have a right to know what is the situation and whether they are being sold
to the karung guni man.

Singapore Prison preparing for influx of senior citizens

The Singapore Prison Service retrofitted 25 cells with mobility-aid features like handrails, grab bars, anti-slip flooring and nurse call help button. State media Straits Times however attributed the double in elderly inmates due to an ageing population. – the Statestimes Review

The Statestimes Review also said, ‘Due to insufficient CPF retirement fund, Singaporean elderly are turning to crimes to get free lodging and food from the prison. According to state media Straits Times, the number of elderly prisoners above the age of 60 have doubled in the past 5 years from 359 at 2.8% of the prison population in 2012, to 651, or 5.3%,in 2016.’

With no jobs, no money, little CPF savings, Medisave as good as untouchable for minor illnesses that did not incur more than a few thousand dollars, the senior citizens are just following the trend of developed western countries like the USA, commit minor crimes to get free lodging, free food and free medical from the prison institutions.

The Singapore Prison is quite forward thinking, thinking ahead, planning ahead to cater for this new trend. Unfortunately 25 cells may not be enough given the size of the senior citizen population now about 1m and growing. The Prison authority should be more generous in the expansion of facilities for the seniors that are planning to make the prison their permanent home. A couple of blocks of HDB flats may be the solution and may shall be inadequate in view of the rising demand.

Senior citizens are getting innovative and creative in planning for their retirement, in the comfort of Changi Prison, everything taken care of. And the facilities have been upgraded to make sure they did not slip and fall. Comforting thought.

I thought it was a joke or a hoax

Below is posted in the statestimesreview.

‘I am deeply saddened and shocked by the events that took place on March 4. My mother is 73 years old, frail and suffers from a host of medical conditions.

That morning, she went to the Ang Mo Kio South Neighbourhood Police Centre to report a lost pawn shop ticket. However, the officer-in-charge informed her that there was a warrant of arrest issued against her in 2015 for failing to appear for a court hearing on a town council-related matter. They did not provide her with any further details of the offence.

She was detained and taken to the Ang Mo Kio Police Station and, from there, to the State Courts, before being remanded at Changi Women’s Prison (CWP). While in custody, my mother was stressed and overwhelmed, and was unable to recall the contact details of any of her relatives....

Furthermore, when my mother was moved between the police station, CWP and the court, she was handcuffed and had leg restraints on. It is appalling that a weak old woman was subjected to such harsh treatment.

Law enforcement officers must be empowered to exercise flexibility to handle such cases with empathy and more humane considerations. I hope our pioneer generation members will not be subjected to such an ordeal in future.’

When I read this narrative, immediately I don’t believe that this could happen in Singapore. Our police officers are very well trained, very caring, very proper, very professional, as exemplified in the Benjamin case. How could they treat a 73 year old woman like that? This cannot be true, this must be a joke.

The statestimereview must verify the details before posting this kind of articles or may incur the wrath of the police. I hope the statestimesreview double confirm this case or remove it from its site.
Oops, after writing the above I came across a half page article in the ST on 16 Mar stating that indeed this case was genuine. The victim that was restrained/not restrain, is a Gertrude Simon. The police respond on this, ‘A joint statement by the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) last night said she was not restrained by the police, and this was done only when she was transferred to prison as part of standard procedure.’

The Police added, ‘The Police and SPS have a duty to enforce the law and to ensure that the rule of law is respected. At the same time, we are committed to ensuring the well being and safety of persons in our custody.’ The Police were just doing their duty and also for the well being and safety of the person to restrain/not restrain a person.  And she was offered food and water, to call home and like Benjamin, ‘She did not show any sign of being traumatised, and was alert in police custody.’

The daughter said, ”When I saw her after her release she was very quiet and when I brought her home, she slept with her hands closed to her face, like in handcuffs,” she added.

Basically she was very well and professionally taken care of, under standard operating procedures, when under police custody. Everything was done properly according to the law and lawful procedure. Case close, no big issue.

Would the kind and compassionate Shanmugam want to review this procedure just like the Police reviewing the procedure after Benjamin’s case, to rethink if it is appropriate to restrain/not restrain a 73 year old woman with respect to the nature of her crime that warranted a restrain/not restrain procedure?

A few questions to ask.
1. Did she commit a serious crime that requires handcuff and leg restraint?
2. Can the handcuff and leg restraint protect her from harming herself?
3. Would she be able to run away from the police?
4. Is it necessary to restrain a mild, weak 73 year old woman?

China needs a doctrine of universal appeal to survive

The West have the Doctrine of Christian Discovery and the Arabs the Doctrine of Jihad. The Chinese need to have a national doctrine of universal value to stay ahead for survival.

The Chinese have always been a disunited people. They are prone to fight among themselves rather than against invading foreigners. This can be seen in their disunity in the face of foreign invasions by the Mongols and the Manchus and later by the Japs and Western countries inclusive of Russia.

The Chinese people and nation must be united if they do not want to be humiliated again. To foster that unity the Chinese need a doctrine that will galvanize Chinese civilization and solidify the national spirit of the Chinese people and the patriotism of the Chinese soul.

The West inclusive of Russia have that militant Doctrine of Christian Discovery. That doctrine works wonders for the West. Armed with that doctrine Western countries have adopted a very assertive and aggressive spirit of aggression and conquest for centuries. That explains how England, France, Spain, Portugal and Holland and later US expand their empire worldwide. That also explains how Russia expands and controls a huge empire stretching from Europe across Asia to the Pacific coast largely at the expense of the Chinese.

To enhance its aggression and hegemony of the world USA adds in the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny and the Doctrine of Exceptionalism.

It is not just the European countries adopting a doctrine to serve their justification of aggression and conquest . The Arabs like the Europeans also have for centuries a powerful doctrine to drive their ambition of conquest and dominance of other countries. The Arab muslims militant doctrine is no different from white men's Doctrine of Christian Discovery. Theirs is the Doctrine of Jihad in submission to Allah's demand of world conquest and mass conversion of conquered people to embrace Islam. That explains how the Arabs conquered and ruled large swathes of land from Middle East to Central Asia and North Africa and how Islam spread far and wide to Pakistan, Bangladash, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and even to China.

China is the only country and ancient civilization without a national doctrine that had been frequently attacked, conquered and torn apart by foreign invaders. The map of China since 1689 and the map of China today will show clearly how Chinese territories shrink in size every other decade from 1689 due to foreign aggression and occupation of Chinese territories.

The Chinese need a strong and powerful doctrine with universal appeal to counter the West and the Arab militants. Chinese all over the world must think of a good doctrine to serve and protect Chinese integrity and security.

The West and the Arabs have done much harm to the world for centuries. It is time to stop them from doing further harm by exposing the true nature of their doctrines.

How to lose your country?

In the past losing your country was usually through conquest. The foreigners just marched in, killed the kings and proclaimed themselves as the new kings. Then the colonialists came, doing almost the same, some just planted their flags and claimed they found the land and the land belonged to them. Many silly Asians still read this in their history books and accepted this silliness.
In order to defend themselves and their countries, armies were raised with paid or unpaid soldiers, trained to fight and die to defend the country, the people and their way of life. The soldiers are there to protect the country and people from foreigners coming to rob and loot them and to occupy their country, to the country as theirs.
With globalization, things are changing. It is a good thing to invite foreigners to your country, to take over your country, to change your way of life. The big question, why is there still a need for soldiers, to defend what when foreigners are happily invited home to take over what you have built, to be owners of your country?
Still don’t understand? Ok, let me give you a simple and real example that is easy to understand. This is reported in YahooNews.
‘A 51-year-old owner of a three-room flat in Hougang Avenue 8 was forced to move out of his own home, after his tenants (a couple) refused to leave the flat, reported Shin Min Daily News.
The homeowner, who works at a supermarket, began renting his flat out 10 years ago to supplement his income.
The couple moved into his home in July 2013. After paying their rent for the next nine months, the couple suddenly stopped making their payments and even refused to move out.
With this, the homeowner decided to move out and began renting a house from a colleague.
“It’s been three years and I had given them many chances, yet they deliberately delay payment and refuse to move out…My family members worry for my safety and advised me to move out,” he said.
“I have a home, yet somehow I’m homeless and have to rent a room from someone else…This is laughable indeed.”’

No this is not laughable. This is stupidity, the hallmark of a stupid people, a daft people that did not know that they are daft. This happened to a home. Translate this to a country, the homeowner(citizens) renting his flat/country out, ie allow foreigners to come in as visitors or PRs, to work and stay in the flat(country)
The tenants(visitors/PRs) then refused to go away. The owner left his flat/country to rent another place to live, ie migrated to another country to live, leaving his country to the foreigners. And the daft owners think it is alright when his home/country is being occupied by his tenant/foreigners. And he stupidly asked, “I have a home, yet somehow I’m homeless and have to rent a room from someone else…”
He did not know that he has lost his home/country and did not know his right to take it back or how to take it back. Singaporeans are boat people in the making.

Daft Singaporeans would soon lose their country without a fight, without knowing why, without knowing that it is their right to their own country, without knowing that they have lost their home and country. And the soldiers, do they know why they are soldiers, why there is a need to be soldiers, why NS, to defend what? What are there to defend against when the foreigners are here, taken over their country and everything?

No, the daft Singaporeans did not mind losing their country. They love the foreigners and happy to share their country with the foreigners, to give their country to the foreigners?

When 50% of the population is new citizens, it is as good as giving away 50% of the country to them. If it is more, eg 70%, it would mean the foreigners are owning 70% of this country. Is this acceptable, the way to go? Is this what the original Singaporeans want, to give their country away without a fight?

Is this too difficult to understand?

Water hike protest at Hong Lim

Last Saturday’s protest at Hong Lim was reported in the Straits Times not because of the protest but because Reuters gave the wrong and misleading reason for the poor turnout. Reuters said it was fear that kept people from attending the protest. The SPF objected to the argument of Reuters, claiming that it was misleading and untrue.

I think there could be some element of truth in Reuters’ point but how much was due to fear is debatable. Who is able to quantify this data? What I think could be one of the major reasons for the pathetic turnout of 100 was the lack of publicity on the event. How many people really know of the protest to even want to attend the event if they did not even know of it?

What I think organizers of future events at Hong Lim should take note of is to at least create more publicity and awareness of such protests. Don’t expect people to know if very little is said of it. Even poor Donald Trump must go down to twitting to get his message to as many people as possible. Organisers must know that they are not Donald Trump and only need to hold an event and expect everyone to know and to want to attend.

Organising an event with little or no publicity, with little or no notice, is as good as not organizing it at all. When failure or poor turnout is assured, what is the point? Are the organizers trying to prove that Singaporeans are not interested in such protests and let the attendance speaks for itself? What kind of impression are the organizers going to create with a 100 attendance?

My advice, do it properly, seriously, and no effort should be spared to inform the public of the event. Make use of all the options like social media, twitter, youtube, google, facebooks etc etc to get the message across. It must be quite disheartening for the speakers and those attending the event last Saturday to see the handful of attendance.

Want to hold more protest at Hong Lim again?

USA, the solution or the problem?

The USA has been meddling with the Middle East and the Palestinian/Israelis problem since the end of WW2. Till today, it is still claiming that it is the only country able to resolve the Palestinian/Israelis conflict and the state of Israel/Palestinian. Until today, 70 years after the USA created the State of Israel in the heart of Palestinian and Arab land, it is still pretending that it is the solution to the problem when it is the problem from the very beginning.

Read this state from the American Office of the Historian to understand how it all started. The Americans, against the wishes of the Palestinians, created the present state of Israel by transporting millions of displaced and stateless surviving Jews from Europe after WW2 to where it is today.

Creation of Israel, 1948

On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel. U.S. President Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day.

Although the United States supported the Balfour Declaration of 1917, which favored the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had assured the Arabs in 1945 that the United States would not intervene without consulting both the Jews and the Arabs in that region. The British, who held a colonial mandate for Palestine until May 1948, opposed both the creation of a Jewish state and an Arab state in Palestine as well as unlimited immigration of Jewish refugees to the region. Great Britain wanted to preserve good relations with the Arabs to protect its vital political and economic interests in Palestine.

Soon after President Truman took office, he appointed several experts to study the Palestinian issue. In the summer of 1946, Truman established a special cabinet committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Henry F. Grady, an Assistant Secretary of State, who entered into negotiations with a parallel British committee to discuss the future of Palestine. In May 1946, Truman announced his approval of a recommendation to admit 100,000 displaced persons into Palestine and in October publicly declared his support for the creation of a Jewish state….’

The Americans planted the seed of conflict and division in the heart of the Middle East and in the pretext of negotiating for the two conflicting parties, grew the seed to an impenetrable military fortress know as Israel today. The several wars fought over the years were not just wars between the Arabs against Israel but wars against USA/Israel with the full military might of the Americans at the disposal of the Israelis. There is no way the Israelis could withstand a combined attack by the Arab world alone or even an attack by Iraq or Iran or Eygpt. It was the Americans fighting on the side of Israel that kept the Israelis invincible.

And the farce of being neutral and playing the neutral negotiator in the dispute was only accepted by the militarily weak and divided Arab nations that could not do anything about it. And periodically the Americans would close an eye to allow the Israelis to attack and destroy any Arab states that have built up a strong enough military force that could threaten Israel. The Arabs are not stupid that they did not know what was happening but their inability to unite as a force to face a common enemy and without the military clout, they could only swallow the pretentious act of the Americans, to be dominated and controlled by the American/Israeli alliance and to keep the status quo going, with the state of Palestine forever a fleeting dream that would not come true as long as the American Empire is ruling the world.

The farcical fight against the ISIS after the devastating destruction of Iraq, Eygpt, Libya and nearly Syria with the creation of the ISIS by the Americans is the biggest wicked joke of the century. It was like fighting the ISIS and feeding it at the same time to keep the game going endlessly and the Arabs being the sacrificial lamb and the Palestinians forever a homeless, weak and disintegrated people, without the resources to determine their own future.

Without the intervention of the Russians, the ISIS would be growing from strength to strength and with more fighters from all corners of the world believing that ISIS was really a rising force in the Middle East, without knowing that its existence was the grace of the Americans, financed, kept alive and fed and armed to keep the Middle East in flame, in conflict, at war till kingdom comes, to secure the security of the state of Israel.

Now that the Russians are in the game, the fake military prowess of the disorganized make shift ISIS force became apparent and real. It is only a matter of time before the ISIS be destroyed and become history once the American’s hand behind the whole game of treachery is exposed.

The Americans were the main problem to the Palestinian/Israelis conflict from day one and it is their intent and in their political and military strategic interest to keep the Arab world in constant and unending turmoil, to keep the Arab nations forever hapless and unable to challenge the little state of Israel, the thorn in the heart of Arab land.

The game is up for the evil Empire. The truth has surfaced, that the Americans are the problem and never the solution to the Palestinian/Israelis conflict and the creation of the state of Palestine and peace in the Middle East.

Game over for the Americans is around the corner.

Are NSmen a strategic and scarce resource?

Some of you have raised a good point about this new catch phrase called strategic resource and scarce some more. Using this genie or demon of make an argument, to justify a wrong is like raising race as a factor in our politics in the Elected President scheme. It is also like the raising of Syonan and backfired badly.

With some clever twits thinking that using the term strategic resource and they would be able to get away with murder, now everyone is going to look at everything using this very same term. It is only right that you people asked the same question, are NSmen a strategic resource and deserved to be accorded the same importance to be paid the respectful and deserving salary.

Ask a simple question, can this country survive without NSmen like without water? Which is more important, NSmen or water? Can this country do away with NSmen? What would this country be without the service of NSmen to protect this country? Some say yes, this country has gone to the dogs. It is gradually being taken over by foreigners, given to foreigners, there is no need to defend anything anymore. Just invite the foreigners to come and take over. There is a point in this argument.

But before the foreigners take over this island and drive out the original Singaporeans as mismatch, misfits, some may still want to hope that this country still belongs to the original Singaporeans and they can do something to prevent it from happening, and there is a role for NSmen to protect this island. If that is the case, then NSmen are indeed a strategic resource. No one, no foreigners would die fighting for this island. Ok some may, but in a matter like the defence of the country, when one is allowed to bear arms, to carry arms and use arms, there is no room for error. How daft can one be to trust that all foreigners turn new citizens would die defending this island?

The probability for errors, the bad apples is very high. Even a 1% error can be devastating. In the Australia murder case, we lost two of our bright young scholars. A simple can turn out to be a grave mistake. And with so many new citizens joining NS, you can expect worms among them.

NSmen, our Singaporean sons, are a strategic resource and a scarce resource. Should not they be priced for the true value of their worth? Are they being shortchanged? Are they being made to protect a population when more than half are really foreigners and taking their jobs and making them redundant, misfits, mismatch and useless in their own country?

In today’s Today paper, First Warrant Officer(Retire) Ali Pawiro said this about Japanese soldiers barging into his house to raid everything in sight. ‘Who were they? How could they just come in and take our stuff?’ Today would Ali Pawiro be shocked to see the two million foreigners here not just taking our stuff but taking our jobs, university places, and occupying our homes and beating up our taxi drivers and cyclists for fun or just to show their anger? And the two millions are invited here!  Any difference?

How to compensate this scarce and strategic resource like the NSmen?  No need because there is nothing to defend anymore? The NSmen must be paid well to make the people understand their true value. The people must be made to bear the real cost of NSmen. At least this would also give them some dignity instead of the paltry sum they are getting unbefitting of the important and strategic role they are performing. Or should they still be sneered as the lowly paid, cheap NSmen, with money not enough and with little dignity as far as their pay is concerned?

What do you think? Water more important, more strategic than NSmen?

PAP will get 75% in next GE

Some critics are saying that this PAP govt is looney. Look at the slate of increases in taxes, fees and more to come and how well they are received by the citizens and you will know how popular is this govt and how strong is the support from the people. After raising education fees, SC&C charges, water fees by 30%, transport fares going to be next and the most comprehensive tax of all, the GST, you can only expect more as the govt is so confident that the people will accept them as gratitude to the good and incorruptible govt and their good policies. It is ok if a few Singaporeans are unemployed, underemployed or forced to retire, they know that it is their faults for being so, unable to compete with the influx of highly talented foreigners, so they will happily go for retraining to take on less skill jobs.

What is important is that all of them would gratefully vote for the PAP in the next GE or in many more GE's to come. There is a very strong bond between the people and the govt. Some may question why 70% voted for the PAP in the last GE and still in shock, in disbelief. The Lee Kuan Yew effect was there and played a significant role to swing the votes. But what is more important and reliable is statistics.

By now 50% of the citizens are likely to be new citizens. This means 50% of the votes would go to the PAP from the new citizens. The balance of 50% could be divided into 50:50, for and against the PAP, ie 30% hard core and 20% swing votes. This would give the PAP another 25% of the votes to make it 75%. It was 70% in the last GE which was an indication that the full impact of foreigners turned new citizens was not enough and there was still a bigger swing votes for the opposition or against the PAP.

By the next GE in 2020 you can expect the new citizens, I don't use the word Singaporeans as it would put the original Singaporeans together with the new Singaporeans in one group, and very misleading. The new citizens are very appreciative of the good life given to them by the PAP, citizenship, cheap housing and good jobs that they could never find anywhere else, definitely not in their God forsaken home countries. And somehow their talents got raised to an unbelieverable level, all better than daft Singaporeans. How would they not vote for their benefactor, the PAP?

With the number of new citizens still increasing rapidly, the 75% votes for the PAP is a given in 2020. No amount of rallies and convincing arguments could change the statistical advantage of the PAP. More new citizens would mean more votes for the PAP. When more than 50% of the population is new citizens, translated to guaranteed votes, the battle is over before it even started.

Now you know why despite all the big increases and the cock thinking 30% water fee hike the PAP is still confident of winning the next GE hands down? And now do you know why there is no public protest for all the hikes? The original Singaporeans are now a minority and have resigned to their fate. Their only choice is to migrate or to be downtrodden by the new talents from little unknown villages. There is nothing they can do now. The PAP is double confirmed to rule till SG100.

Do not under estimate the power of mathematics and the magic of mathematicians.

Li Keqiang’s speech – What to make out of it?

Premier Li Keqiang has delivered his much awaited and most watched speech at the 12th National People’s Congress and China watchers are busily trying to dissect every bit of his speech to understand what he was saying and where is China heading. The keynote address by the Prime Minister of China has gained stature internationally and would be closely watched by leaders of nations around the world wanting to understand China and its policies. Any analyst hoping and expecting something dramatic and earth shaking pronouncement in this speech is likely to be disappointed. Li Keqiang’s speech is best described by a few words, consolidation, stability and avoiding the risk that may come from domestic and external factors.

The tempo of the speech, covering almost every aspect of the Chinese economy and touching on the life of the Chinese people, is a sign of a leadership that is comfortable with what they have achieved and what they had set out to do. It is a speech that said China is on the right course and will continue to move ahead in a steady pace with not much haste.

China has initiated many big plans and projects internally and in the international arena in the last decades, particularly in the last few years. A distinct observation that everything is going on as planned, and doing well, is their absence from being mentioned in Li Keqiang’s speech.  What were not spoken were equally important if not more important like the AIIB and One Belt One Road international projects. The American rhetoric on the South China Sea were not worthy of mention as well. The anti corruption drive too did not find a place in the speech.

The whole emphasis of Li’s speech is about consolidation of what China has been doing over the years, economic development to bring about a prosperous China and better quality of living for its people. Improving the environment, clear sky, creating jobs and lowering unemployment and agricultural reforms to improve productivity took the main stage. The economy is targeted to continue to grow at a more leisure pace of 6.5%, a departure from the years of hectic double digit growth to ensure a more stable and sustainable growth.

The overall picture is a China growing at its own terms and dictates with no great concern or the need to take high risk. There is no worrying trends and development that could trip the progress of the Chinese economy and China’s growing prosperity.

There are areas of concern but nothing unmanageable. Li Keqiang did raise the issue of independence movements in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and China’s sovereignty in the South China Sea. His message was simple, without being confrontational to unsettle the critics and doomsayers, that China would firmly and resolutely protect the One China policy, removing any doubts on what China would do when the One China policy and Chinese sovereignty are challenged.

Li Keqiang did not respond directly to the provocative rhetoric from the Americans and in a way keep the South China Sea on an even keel. The modest increase in the Chinese defence budget of 7% is also another statement that says threats to China’s national security would be taken seriously but not something the Chinese leader is unduly worried about. China is not in a hurry to over indulge in military spending or in an arms race with the USA to compete for military dominance and superiority.

China has chosen the path of economic development, to continue to grow and develop in a measured and predictable manner to improve the lives of the Chinese people. Military adventure and supremacy are not China's cup of tea.

In summary, Li Keqiang's speech is all about economic development, prosperity and the well being of the Chinese people and for China to continue to grow as a sovereign nation.
